Venus and Mars

My unsung memory is someone I almost met

Like rays of sun long after the sun had already set

It was a dream that I haven’t lived yet

But when it happens, he’s the one thing I’ll never regret

*He was footprints on the moon

Like a happy ever after or an ‘I remember tune’

He was my sweet sixteen memory, the dawn came too soon,

He was like kisses from Jupiter’s lips

He was my “I’ll always remember you”

We’d watch meteor showers in the field til midnight

Where we’d dance across the stars

Extend the hours of twilight-on forever cause time was ours

Lost in every second til we’d forgotten who we are

From a distance you’d never know it like watching Venus and Mars

*He was footprints on the moon

Like a happy ever after or an ‘I remember tune’

He was my sweet sixteen memory, my November through June

He was like kisses from Jupiter’s lips

He was my “I’ll always remember you”

Painting a masterpiece in my head staring there, in the dark, clutching to every word he said

Our first kiss we could feel our souls entwine

Our fairytale’s perfect twist, the communication of his soul and mind

We went our ways long ago a promise we could have kept

Almost a memory I just can’t forget

*He was footprints on the moon

Like a happy ever after or an ‘I remember tune’

He was my sweet sixteen memory, my November through June

He was like kisses from Jupiter’s lips

He was my “I’ll always remember you”

So if you find yourself on a train down a one way track or a cobblestone road with a eucalyptus tree

Whisper these words and please don’t look back

Please remember, never forget, I’m your favorite memory
